There will be no Jump Over the Mountains this year – the event has morphed into Jump over the Tuckerbox!! Which is what Gundagai is called – and the host vehicle for the 2010 NSW State Showjumping Championships.
The dates for the event are 28 to 31 October 2010. Further details will be available on Global Entries Online once the program is finalised.
Edwena Mitchell, the event organiser, has managed to secure $15,000 in sponsorship so far, to go towards prizemoney.
I understand that this is a nice venue, with plenty of shade and space. There are about 100 small stables and open yards at the grounds and 200 portable stables have been ordered specially ordered for the event.
On the social side of things, there will be a dance on the Saturday night, with Michael Archer and his band, After Dark. Dinner and dancing will be at the next door Race Course – so no driving, just a very short wander next door!!
So put the dates in your diary. More details to come soon….

The grounds at Camden are very good at the moment as this rain has been just what was needed and the scheduled watering has not been necessary. Other areas have obviously had more rain than Camden. Competitors would be notified by email on Thursday if this situation changed.
The majority of Riders on waiting list classes are looking promising at getting a spot in their nominated classes and will be notified on Monday.
All correspondence at this stage needs to be directed to espjane@bigpond.com.
This is a show for horses and riders competing from 75cm to 1.20m. Anyone
is eligible to compete in the height classes and Amateurs have their own
classes from 1m to 1.20m but are also eligible to compete in the open height
classes. Juniors are welcome to compete in the open height classes.
We have incorporated the FEI World Jumping Challenge Category A for Amateurs 21 years and over. This is agreat opportunity for our Amateur riders to compete against other riders of their standard in a number of countries jumping courses designed by an
overseas Course Designer.
Also this year the ESP Young Horse Mini Series will host its second
competition at this show for 4, 5 & 6 year old horses.
Everyone is welcome and admission is free to come and watch three great days of jumping at Camden’s Bicentennial Park.

Greatest riding achievement to date
Being selected for the Hong Kong Junior Equestrian Team.
What are you currently doing as part of the team
I’m riding my horse that I took from Australia, Noticeable, doing 1.20m courses. I’m also riding different horses, going to competitions, doing interviews and demonstrations.
How has the team changed things for you
Apart from lots more opportunities, riding is more intense and there is more pressure from local people. There is not as much space compared to riding in Sydney. But it is still enjoyable.
What’s coming up for you and the team
I’ll be going to Germany in July for four weeks and will be riding German horses in competitions. The aim is to get more experience for the riders on the team.
Goals
I’d like to win lots in Germany, and get chosen for real Hong Kong team to compete at events like the Youth Games.
Sponsors
Most of my sponsorship comes from the Hong Kong Jockey Club. I am also sponsored by my riding school, Clearwater Bay Equestrian Centre.
Favourite Rider
Ellen Whittaker – she’s a bit crazy!
Other Interests
I’m a half back in the national rugby team. But I missed out on recent tour due to an injured finger.
There have been many. To name a few, there were Taxi, Manual, Gollimite, Hunky Dory, Ashico…..
Greatest achievements
Queen Elizabeth Cup in the UK –2nd in 1992 and 4th in 1993.
Two World Equestrian Games – Dublin in 1984 and The Hague in 1994.
What are you doing now
I am retired as a rider. I am now breeding and currently have four babies which I will bring along as far as I can. I will retire sometime after that.
Favourite rider to watch
Australian rider of course – Clem Smith.
Funniest horse related moment
Di was initially unable to think of the funniest moment. However, shortly after the interview, one of her babies (Limo) ripped off part of a shirt worn by a person talking to her!
Best riding tip received
Be patient - sometimes it takes longer to find their talents. And be kind.
Following recent successes by Edwina Alexander and Chris Chugg in the FEI World Cup, our Australian showjumpers have made another outstanding achievement by placing second at the FEI Nations Cup event at Belgium!
The Nations Cup team consisted of Chris Chugg on Vivant, Paul Athanasoff on Wirragulla Nicklaus, Phillip Lever on Ashleigh Drossel Dan, and James Paterson-Robinson riding a 9 year old stallion Niack de L’Abbaye by Diamant De Semilly.
Australia may post a team at the next Nations Cup event in Austria in mid May. The team will remain the same with the exception of substituting Phillip Lever with Matt Williams.
